Forty Days of Prayer Challenge Overview

Why 40 Days of Prayer?

The purpose of 40 Days of Prayer is for us to prepare ourselves for God’s use through spiritual restoration of fellowship between believers and our Lord.

We are praying for revival, and revival needs to begin within us
Revival comes from God to His people. The power of the Holy Spirit is the only power we need for personal revival.

Instructions For Each Day:
Every day you read and pray through this guide will be time well invested.

  1. Set a specific time and a quiet place to work through the daily prayer guide.
  2. Use your Bible to read the scriptures. As you read, remember you are in the presence of God.
  3. Answer the questions and follow the suggestions.
  4. Don’t take any shortcuts. It is more meaningful to put forth the effort and have the privacy needed to examine yourself.

God can:

  • Forgive every sin
  • Cleanse every stain
  • Save any sinner
  • Overcome all doubts
  • Quiet every fear
  • Meet every need
  • Use His people in soul-winning
  • Bless His people with revival
  • Give victory!

Each Day Will Involve

1. Worship

You will spend time showing the Lord His worth to you.

2. Praise

Each day you will have the opportunity to thank Him for blessings you have received. You will have a Biblical identity to claim and rejoice over.

A Biblical identity is a standing we have in God that makes us special to Him. The World wants to rob us of this by redefining us as less than we are. Rejoice, God has made you more than you think you are!

3. Confession

Each day there will be heart-probing questions posed to help you hear God’s answer to the prayer in Psalms 139:23-24: "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

Confession means agreeing with God, acknowledging each offense as sin, asking God's forgiveness, and thanking God for cleansing you.

Three kinds of sins which we must confess:

  1. Private sins against God alone must be confessed to God alone.
  2. Personal sins against others. There can be no peace until these sins are confessed to God. As God leads, you will need to confess to the person you have wronged. You must make an effort to restore disturbed fellowship.
  3. Public sins against the church include gossip, neglect of duty, and wrongful attitudes. You can name many others.

1 John 1:8-9 "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

4. Requests

Pray for Yourself

  • Pray for cleansing, strength, and courage to forsake the sins confessed.
  • Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit.
  • Surrender all self-will, ambition, desires, plans, hopes, times, talents, all. Put all in His hand. Trust Him - fear not!

Pray for your family

Ask God's guidance and blessing in your home.

Pray for your church

  • Pray for your pastor and other leaders.
  • Pray for weak members.
  • Pray for unity and love within the church.
  • Pray for the unsaved.
  • Ask God to burden you for individuals and to use you to reach them.

Thank the Lord for the wonderful privilege of entering His presence because of the finished work of Christ on the cross.

"My prayer for you is that your life with Christ will be revived and renewed through your prayer time." - Pastor
