John Mix

Senior Pastor

John H. Mix was raised in a small farming community in central Illinois. In 1990, he and his wife accepted an invitation from a friend to attend a Baptist church in Dunlap, Illinois. As a result of that invitation, he accepted Christ as his Savior, and he and his wife were baptized.

In June 1997, he surrendered to full-time ministry. He served as Youth Pastor at Northside Baptist Church of Sandwich, Illinois (1997-1998), Youth and Music Pastor at Hillcrest Baptist Church of El Paso, Texas (1999-2003), Associate Pastor at Roswell Baptist Church of Roswell, New Mexico (2003-2004), and Associate Pastor at Crossroads Baptist Church of Peoria, Illinois (2010-2011). From 2004 to 2010, he served as the Pastor of Freedom Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. There he took a struggling mission work through organization as a church and a move to a new facility.

On September 2, 2012, Pastor Mix took leadership in the Senior Pastor role at First Baptist Church of Kingstowne.

Pastor Mix has Bachelors Degree in Pastoral Theology from Anchor Theological Seminary (McAllen, Texas), and a Masters in Biblical Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary (Camilla, Georgia). He was ordained by Hillcrest Baptist Church of El Paso, Texas.

Pastor Mix and his wife Sara have four sons - Joshua, Samuel, Levi, and Benjamin.

Jim Bowling

Deacon

Jim serves as a Deacon, Trustee, and Bible teacher at FBCK. He came to know Jesus Christ as his savior in the summer of 1968 at the age of 14. From that day until now he sought to learn and know the truth about God, the Bible, and the New Testament Church. He became active in Church attendance and after several years of searching and meeting Marilyn, the woman who later became his wife, he was introduced to East Side Missionary Baptist Church in Hot Springs, AR. Jim attended, studied, and in some cases debated with the people East Side for about 18 months. It was during this period that he came under conviction about Baptism and Church Membership. After obtaining assurance of his salvation and resolving his questions about Baptism, he was Baptized and became a member in 1972. Jim started visiting, witnessing, and teaching all within the first year of becoming a Church member. Over the next eight years, Jim served in several capacities to include teaching children and adults. Glenwood Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL recognized Jim’s commitment, leadership, teaching, witnessing, and organization skills and ordained him to the office of Deacon on September 6, 1981. Over the intervening 40+ years under the Lord’s guidance, Jim has served as Deacon in six different Churches and has been a Deacon, Trustee, and Bible teacher with First Baptist Church of Kingstowne for the last 30 years.


Jim was married to Marilyn in 1974 and they have been blessed by the families of their children, Mike and April (their daughter) Duncan their children Grace and Austin and Brad (their son) and Carla Bowling and their son, Bradley.

Dr. Steve Moore

Trustee, Teacher, KBBI Dean

Steve was raised in a small farming community in northern Illinois, and true to those midwestern roots, he accepted Christ as his Savior behind a livestock tent at the county fair. He was later baptized by 20th Street Missionary Baptist Church of Rockford, Illinois, the same church that he and his wonderful wife Lynn were married in. (They now have three children and seven grandchildren.) He received a BS degree from MacMurray College, and a PhD in theoretical physics from Iowa State University.

In 1985, Steve and Lynn moved their family to northern Virginia, and (except for a brief field tour in Arizona) they have been members of FBCK ever since. Over the years, Steve served in numerous roles in the church, including trustee, Sunday School Superintendent, AWANA Commander, and leader of adult and teen Bible studies. He has also done lay preaching at FBCK and sister churches. His latest focus has been on leading the Kingstowne Baptist Bible Institute, FBCK’s initiative to equip Christians with Bible-centered knowledge, experience, and support for next-level ministry.

Steve recently retired from a distinguished career at a federal research center, where he assisted DoD with the adoption of new technologies, tactics, and processes. In addition to serving others through the church, his joys now include spending time with family, doing genealogical research, and watching sports (go Cyclones!).

Chris L. Smith

Awana Commander

Originally from Oregon and points West, he served in the Navy.
The Lord brought him to Virginia from San Diego in 1999 on house hunting leave. He was blessed to locate a place near the church whose original owner was his Captain's boss (!). This was a divine appointment, and he has been a productive member of First Baptist for a couple of decades now. He has taught various Sunday School, VBS classes, and been blessed to serve as the AWANA Commander for the past couple of years.

Chris holds an engineering undergraduate degree and a couple of master's degrees, but hopes all that book learnin' will not be held against him.

Chris was married to Dorothee in this church in 2004, and they are raising two sons here: Niklas and Lukas.

Bro. Ben Fasinro

Assistant to the Pastor

Benjamin Fasinro was born in Charlotte, NC in May of 2001. Ben got saved at a young age, as his mother opened the Bible, and showed him how he can know for sure that he is on his way to Heaven. On that day, he bowed his head and accepted Christ as his Savior. He grew up on the mission field of Nigeria, West Africa, where his family served as missionaries for 15 years. While attending a youth conference at Lancaster Baptist Church in 2014, he felt the Lord calling Him to full-time ministry. God led him to attend West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, CA, where He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Church Ministries. He moved to Alexandria, VA in  2023 to fill the position of Assistant To The Pastor.

Ben serves in the music ministry, Sunday School and Junior Church Ministry, as well as any other tasks to help or assist the Senior Pastor.

Bro. Noah Stevens

Students Pastor

Noah Stevens was born in Cleveland, OH in April 2000. Noah was saved at the age of 12 years old at a summer camp called Camp CoBeAc when he heard the message of the gospel declared on a Tuesday night. At that same camp six years later, he felt the Lord working in his heart to attend a Bible college, later that summer he left to go to West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, CA a ministry of Lancaster Baptist Church. It was during his freshman year there that he felt the Lord calling him to full-time ministry. Upon graduating with his degree in Pastoral Theology in December of 2022 he spent a year working as a church ministry intern at Lancaster Baptist Church, and in the January of 2024 him and his wife Malori moved to Alexandria to fulfill the role of Students Pastor, and Church Secretary.

 Noah leads our students ministry by teaching our 7th-12th graders on Sunday mornings, and Wednesday nights, as well as leading many programs for the teens including activities and outreach to our community.

Sis Malori Stevens

Church Secretary

Malori Stevens was born in Leonardtown, Maryland in May of 2001. Malori got saved at the age of four as her father opened the Bible and showed her how to trust Christ as her Savior. Years later at a summer camp called Camp Rapidan, Malori surrendered her life to the calling of full time ministry. Malori attended West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster,California where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Religious Education. After graduation, Malori married Noah Stevens on June 17, 2023 and then began working at Lancaster Baptist Church as an administrative assistant. In January of 2024, Malori and Noah felt the calling to move to Alexandria to fulfill the position of Student Pastor and Church Secretary. In June of 2024, Malori and Noah were blessed to have their son, Bentley Stevens, be born into the world.

Malori serves as a Church Secretary and as the Student Pastor’s wife. She helps Noah with the 7th -12th graders on Sunday Mornings and Wednesday nights as well as planning other activities with the teens.
